Welcoming the Norfolk Island Governance Committee community representatives
The Albanese Government’s commitment to strengthening democratic representation for Norfolk Islanders has seen the successful election of three community representatives to sit on the Norfolk Island Governance Committee (NIGC).
In what was a well contested election with 12 candidates, Christopher Magri, Alma Davidson and Chelsea Evans were selected by the 1,129 Norfolk Island residents who participated in the election to vote for those who will represent them on the committee.
Each community representative brings a breadth and depth of local knowledge and experience to the position that will be instrumental in helping shape the direction of Norfolk Island going forward.
Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories Kristy McBain has now approved the community representatives, ahead of the inaugural meeting of the NIGC taking place on 18 October.
