New appointments to the Australian Communications and Media Authority
The Albanese Government has made three appointments to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) following a merit-based selection process.
The ACMA is a highly respected agency that regulates telecommunications, broadcasting, radiocommunications and certain online content in Australia. The three appointees will serve as full-time members for five years and collectively bring a wealth of experience that will ensure the ACMA keeps pace with its dynamic regulated industries.

He has extensive experience across the telecommunications, media and broadcasting sectors. Mr Suckling will commence at the Authority immediately, starting on 24 July 2023.
Ms Samantha Yorke is a Senior Manager in Google’s Government Affairs team, leading its public policy strategy and advocacy on matters of privacy, cyber and mis/disinformation. She has a strong legal and regulatory background in the private sector, and previously worked with government on media, online safety and digital platforms matters. Ms Yorke will commence on 28 August 2023.
Ms Carolyn Lidgerwood is currently the Head of Privacy at Rio Tinto, a position held since 2011. She brings extensive expertise in legal and regulatory frameworks including telecommunications, privacy, broadcasting and radiocommunications. Ms Lidgerwood will commence by 16 October 2023.
The Government acknowledges the service of outgoing members Mr James Cameron and Ms Anita Jacoby for their valuable contributions to the ACMA over the past ten years.
Mr Cameron is widely recognised as having been instrumental in the reform of spectrum management arrangements in Australia; while Ms Jacoby has expertly supported the ACMA in strengthening its decision-making on broadcasting, online gambling and content matters.
