Australian Government delivers better connectivity in Lyons
The community of Melton Mowbray, Tasmania will be able to access better mobile and broadband connectivity with the completion of projects delivered under the Australian Government’s Regional Connectivity Program.
The new services will assist to diversify the Tasmanian economy towards a high-value industry by improving connectivity at the Greenhill Observatory. This will allow UTAS and Tasmania to access applied commercial development opportunities in the growing space industry, in partnership with government, local and international companies, and research agencies.
The Australia Government has contributed $260,500.00 to the Enhancing Australia's Sovereign Space Capability project, along with contributions from the Tasmanian Government, FortyTwo 24 and the University of Tasmania.
Through the Regional Connectivity Program, FortyTwo 24 Pty Ltd has deployed an optical fibre extension between the Midlands Highway and Bisdee Tier to provide faster internet speed to the Greenhill Observatory operated by the University of Tasmania.
The Regional Connectivity Program is funding the delivery of 'place-based' telecommunications infrastructure projects to improve digital connectivity across regional, rural and remote Australia.
This project was delivered under Round 1 of the program, which is providing $117 million for 130 projects across Australia.
The Australian Government’s Better Connectivity for Rural and Regional Australia plan is supporting regional, rural, and remote communities get connected and bridge the digital divide.
