Premier sheep and lamb conference to return in 2024
For the first time since 2018, Australia’s premier sheep and lamb conference and trade show – LambEx – will herd more than 1,200 producers, graziers, wool growers, processors, exporters and industry members together to celebrate and promote the industry.
Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories, Kristy McBain said she was pleased to be in Adelaide to launch the 2024 event.
“The great advantage of forums like LambEx is the opportunity for the industry to come together," Minister McBain said.
“These are people who are passionate about their industry and when they come together, good ideas become great ideas, and eventually a reality.
“LambEx is no different, promoting the sheep and wool industry both in Australia and to overseas investors.
“It's an industry with a great story to tell, which is why the Albanese Government committed $1 million in grant funding toward the event, part of the $12.3 million Support Regional Trade Events program we promised at the election and delivered in the 2022-23 October Budget.”
South Australia’s Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, Clare Scriven, said the SA Government was proud to be a sponsor of LambEx and recognised the significance of the event.
“It’s fantastic to see LambEx returning to its prominent place on the national agricultural calendar, and particularly returning to South Australia, 10 years on from when Adelaide first hosted the event,” Minister Scriven said.
“South Australia is recognised for its ability to deliver on national and international events and I'm confident that LambEx will be an enormous success.”
South Australian lamb producer and LambEx Chair Jason Schulz said that the organisers had big ambitions for LambEx in 2024.
“We are bringing lamb to the heart of the city to showcase our great industry and put the spotlight on our premium sheep and lamb products to a broader consumer base,” Mr Schultz said.
“LambEx is distinctive in the fact that it is the only industry forum that incorporates and encompasses the entire supply chain for the sheep and lamb industry giving it appeal both here in Australia and abroad.”
Sheep Producers Australia CEO Bonnie Skinner said there had never been a more exciting time to be working towards an event like LambEx.
“Australia’s sheepmeat and wool producers are regarded as among the best in the world and next year’s LambEx will provide the perfect stage to showcase homegrown products from across the country to an audience of domestic and international visitors,” Ms Skinner said.
“Like so many other businesses and events, we couldn’t forge ahead with LambEx during the pandemic – so we can’t wait to see our producers, stakeholders, industry and government friends at this brilliant event.”
