Works are underway on the $5 million Wodonga Creek Activation Project, with the Albanese Government partnering with Wodonga Council to each contribute $2.5 million to transform the area into a vibrant recreational and visitor destination.
The project will improve access to Wodonga Creek, create new opportunities for recreation and strengthen connections between Wodonga’s central business area, Belvoir Park, Gateway Island and Albury.
Improvements will include enhanced walking and cycling paths, interactive water-play and picnic areas, seating, lighting and landscaping, alongside improved parking, signage and public art.
The works follows several rounds of community consultation, with feedback informing concepts and detailed designs.
The project is made possible thanks to the State and Federal Governments and Wodonga Council’s collaboration through Albury Wodonga Regional Projects.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid- to late-2027.
