Safety upgrades will secure the long-term future of Kennett River, one of the Great Ocean Road's most-loved destinations.

The $3.8 million works are part of a $676 million investment by the Albanese and Allan Labor Governments and the City of Geelong to boost tourism along the Great Ocean Road.

Upgrades to improve Kennett River will deliver improved open public spaces, landscaping, paths, and toilets.

Traffic flow in Kennett River’s central precinct and streets will be improved with a new road design.

Plus, an upgraded car park will create a safer, more accessible and better-connected space for locals.

These upgrades were shaped through extensive community engagement to ensure they reflect local needs.

At Lorne and Apollo Bay, further upgrades will improve community spaces and support nature-based visitation along this stretch of the Great Ocean Road.

A $12.59 million upgrade at Point Grey will deliver a new Aquatic and Angling Club building, a new building with a hospitality offering, and improved parking, paths, opens spaces, toilets and facilities for fishing.

In Apollo Bay, works will soon start on a $12.61 million redevelopment of the historic harbour precinct.

Geelong is also now home to Nyaal Banyul, regional Victoria’s biggest events and convention centre.
