Major milestone for Mandurah Estuary Bridge duplication
Duplication of the Mandurah Estuary Bridge, south of Perth, is one step closer with Georgiou Group Pty Ltd being officially named as the preferred proponent to design and deliver the project.
Georgiou Group Pty Ltd has considerable experience in constructing bridges in Western Australia, including the design and construction of the award-winning Mandurah Traffic Bridge, which was completed in 2018.
Georgiou Group Pty Ltd is also part of the Alliance currently delivering the new Fitzroy River Bridge.
The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Western Australian Governments, with each contributing $55 million.
The project involves construction of a second, two-lane bridge on the south side of the current bridge.
The project will also include construction of a new four-metre-wide shared path to improve connectivity and access to recreational activities for the local community.
More than 33,000 vehicles currently use the existing Mandurah Estuary Bridge every day, with congestion an ongoing issue.
Detailed design will be carried out before construction gets underway, with the project expected to be completed by late 2025.
Main Roads have completed environmental and heritage assessments and preliminary site investigations.
