The Albanese Government is supporting a mixed-use precinct that supports tertiary education, housing and economic activity in central Albany.

The $22.5 million Spencer Street Advance Housing Project is receiving $8.1 million from the latest round of the government’s $400 million regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP).

The project will support the redevelopment of existing heritage buildings to provide about 725 square metres of commercial and training space for tertiary education purposes, while retaining historic facades.

These works also will help unlock future development of 18 social and affordable housing units.

The new commercial space and new affordable housing, combined with Advance Housing’s existing student accommodation, will connect to the historic Spencer Street Precinct and help activate an underutilised part of central Albany, increasing foot traffic, creating economic opportunities and supporting local business.
