The Albanese Government has committed $48 million to address safety at 60 locations across Victoria under the 2026-27 Black Spot Program funding round.

The Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic lights, safety barriers, roundabouts and pedestrian crossings at locations where several serious crashes have occurred or are at risk of occurring.

Projects included in this round include:

• $2.931 million to install and upgrade safety barriers, audio tactile line marking and other supporting treatments along the Goulburn Valley Highway between Union Road and Devine Road.
• $2.706 million to install safety barriers, shoulder sealing, warning signs, curve alignment markers, line marking and other supporting treatments as well as resurfacing to improve skid resistance to the Princes Highway at Club Terrace.
• $1.06 million to deliver intersection reorientation, lighting improvements, pedestrian separation and installation of raised priority crossings to the Albert Street intersection with the Midland Highway in Daylesford.

The projects were recommended by the Victoria Black Spot Consultative Panel. This panel is comprised of local stakeholders to ensure nominations of the highest priority and importance to the local community are recommended for approval.

The Albanese Government has increased annual Black Spot Program funding to $150 million, improving road safety at sites right across the country. 

It is a key part of our commitment to reducing fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.

Anyone can nominate a black spot for consideration, including individuals, community groups and local councils.
