Tenterfield to enjoy a fresh water supply

Residents of Tenterfield Shire will now get to enjoy safe drinking water, with construction of the Tenterfield Water Treatment Plant officially complete.

This first-class treatment plant has replaced the 90-year-old former plant, and will hold 2.5 mega litres per day.

The new plant provides infrastructure that will benefit the community for decades to come, by being able to service community events, support tourism activities and agriculture.

The Australian Government contributed $2.65 million to the $9.65 million project, with the New South Wales Government providing the remaining $7 million.

Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister for Regional Development, Senator Anthony Chisholm:

We’re proud to have partnered with the New South Wales State Government to deliver fresh and dependable water for over 5,000 residents in the Tenterfield area.

“As well as delivering quality infrastructure that will improve water quality and reduce water waste, the project also supported 30 jobs during construction.

“It’s great to be in Tenterfield to open this project for regional New South Wales. As towns like Tenterfield continue to grow, projects like these will be crucial to retaining the excellent quality of life that locals enjoy here.”
