An Albanese Government funded precinct plan is set to transform the Seven Hills town centre, as the growing suburb in Sydney's west readies to welcome its new library.
Today’s announcement will see Blacktown City Council receive $2.376 million to develop a precinct plan to upgrade Boomerang Place, plan a new public plaza next to the new $35.8 million Seven Hills Community Hub & Library and improve walking and cycling connections to the train station.
The precinct planning process will explore ways to improve public safety and drainage in the public spaces and find opportunities to support the night-time economy.
With the area surrounding the Seven Hills train station designated as a low to medium rise housing growth area, these will be welcome improvements for the many more people looking to live within walking distance of the train station and community facilities.
The new community hub and library at the centre of the precinct plan, co-funded by the New South Wales Government and Blacktown City Council, is set to open in the second half of 2027.
Work on the precinct plan will commence early next year and be complete in mid-2027.
The funding is provided under the $150 million urban Precincts and Partnerships Program (uPPP), which is supporting transformative investment in urban precincts that grow economies and support local communities.
This program supports the government’s commitment to delivering new homes and work with communities to improve their local suburbs.
