Motorists, freight operators and regional communities are now benefiting from safer and more reliable journeys on the Cunningham Highway, with major safety upgrades between Tregony and Maryvale now complete.

The Australian Government is investing $31.8 million towards the $39.8 million Cunningham Highway Safety Package, jointly funded with the Queensland Government, to deliver road widening, pavement strengthening, new guardrails and other targeted safety improvements designed to reduce serious crashes and improve driving conditions.

The completion marks a major milestone for one of southern Queensland’s most important freight and community routes, restoring a stronger and safer connection between South East Queensland and regional communities across the Darling Downs and beyond.

The completion of the project also allows the reopening of the Fisher Park Rest Areas, restoring an important stop for motorists travelling through the area.
