Have your say on Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central design

Community members are being encouraged to provide feedback on the Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central design.

Design details for the Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central package will be available from 4 March 2024.

The design shows detailed layouts for the eight-kilometre, six-lane section of the project from Helensvale Road to Smith Street Motorway.

This section includes an active-transport path (up to four metres wide) for bike riders and pedestrians with direct links into both Helensvale and Parkwood light rail stations.

Earlier public consultation in 2020 and the community feedback resulted in design improvements and changes to the reference design, as well as changes from project planning and technical investigations onsite.

To provide feedback on the current designs, find out more about the project, or register for project updates, you can:

Coomera Connector Stage 1 will progressively open to traffic in sections from late 2025, weather and site conditions permitting.

Once complete, the 45-kilometre Coomera Connector, also known as the ‘second M1’, will be a new north-south motorway between Logan and the Gold Coast, relieving congestion on the M1 by providing an alternative route for local trips.

The $2.16 billion Stage 1 project, between Coomera and Nerang, is jointly funded (50:50) by the Australian and Queensland governments.

This investment is estimated to support an average of 1,000 direct jobs over the life of the project.
