Construction is now underway on the first package of freight efficiency and safety upgrades for Bridport Road.
These works will upgrade the section of Bridport Road between Weymouth Road and Industry Road, in Tasmania’s northeast.
The upgrades include road widening and surface repairs, slope improvements and new turning lanes at selected intersections to improve road safety while supporting more efficient freight movements along the corridor.
The first package of upgrades on Bridport Road will deliver improvements at priority locations, and new dedicated turning lanes for Industry Road, Pipers River Road, Back Creek Road, Weymouth Road and the Pipers River General Store.
Works will take place from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays.
Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place during working hours and road users should allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time when travelling.
Please remember to follow the direction of traffic controllers and signage and keep to the posted speed limits to help keep road workers and all road users safe.
Road users can stay up to date on upcoming roadworks across the state by visiting the Roadworks Map (www.transport.tas.gov.au/roadworks/roadworks_map) or the RoadsTas Facebook page (www.facebook.com/roadsTAS/).
The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have committed a combined $25 million to deliver the Bridport Road Freight Efficiency and Safety Upgrades project.
