The Albanese Government is continuing to expand tourism and trade opportunities, negotiating new and updated air services agreements with the Maldives, El Salvador, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
The Maldives, a popular destination for Australian holidaymakers, has signed a new agreement allowing airlines of both countries to operate international passenger and cargo services to all international airports in Australia.
This new air services agreement will be put to use from today with the first flight from Malé destined for Melbourne International Airport due to depart.
The new arrangements between Australia and El Salvador allow airlines to offer code share services to expand their global networks and partnerships.
Updated air services arrangements with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will provide airlines of Australia and both Gulf nations with access to additional passenger capacity of seven passenger services per week through the new Western Sydney International Airport as an international arrival and departure destination.
These agreements underscore the Albanese Government’s commitment to creating opportunities for our aviation, tourism and trade industries and providing connectivity benefits to passengers.
