The Albanese Labor Government investing in Bendigo
The Albanese Labor Government is building Australia’s future today announcing over $20 million to boost housing and community infrastructure in the Bendigo region.
$11.3 million has been allocated through the Housing Support Program to City of Greater Bendigo to upgrade three sewer pump stations in Marong and construct 6km of rising mains along the Calder Highway.
This critical project will unlock 2,369 homes including enabling 240 social or affordable housing.
Additionally, Mount Alexander Shire Council is receiving funding through the regional Precincts and Partnerships Program to redevelop Frederick Street and Mechanics Lane in Castlemaine.
Thanks to $12.19 million from the Albanese Government, this project will transform the public space with improvements to pedestrian zones, public safety, the outdoor event space, underground infrastructure and streetscaping.
The project will connect the Town Centre Precinct to the Railway Precinct and will integrate local Djarra art into the streetscape. Mount Alexander Shire Council will partner with community organisations to revitalise the Castlemaine Town Centre Precinct.
