The Albanese Government has appointed Dr Lisa Caffery as Deputy Chairperson of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Board and Damien Miller as a non-executive Director.

Dr Caffery and Mr Miller bring valuable experience across complex governance challenges, the needs of remote and regional communities and international engagement. 

Dr Caffery brings extensive leadership and public governance experience to the ABC Board. 

Her career spans infrastructure, health and public administration, including senior roles serving regional and remote communities.

Her previous roles include Chair of Sunwater Limited and Deputy Chair of the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Board. 

Dr Caffery is currently a non-executive Director of Mater Misericordiae Ltd and an independent member of Dam Safety NSW.

Her qualifications include a PhD from Central Queensland University, focusing on rural health equity and social impact. 

Mr Miller has significant experience in international relations, public policy, strategic communications and cultural engagement.

His appointment strengthens the Board’s expertise in international engagement, public diplomacy and cultural policy. 

He is currently the Executive Director of Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity at the University of Melbourne and previously held senior diplomatic roles within the Australian Government.
