Museum of Australian Democracy Director appointment
The Albanese Government has announced the appointment of Ms Stephanie Bull as Director of the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament House for a five-year term, beginning on 22 February.
Ms Stephanie Bull is a well-respected member of the Australian arts community, most recently serving as Deputy Director of the National Museum of Australia (NMA).
During her extensive service to the NMA since 2004, Ms Bull held a number of roles, from Manager of Exhibitions and Gallery Development, Manager of International Relations, Programs and Partnerships, Chief Operating Officer and, since 2018, Deputy Director.
In recognition of her expertise and commitment to uplifting this great national institution, Ms Bull was awarded the National Museum of Australia’s Director’s Award for Excellence in 2018.
Ms Bull has previously worked at the Australian War Memorial in the field of gallery redevelopment, and from 2019 has sat on the board of the Canberra Writers Festival.
Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke, said the Government is investing in strong leadership to enhance the future of our National Collecting Institutions.
“Strong leadership is critical to secure a bright future for our national cultural institutions.
“This Government will always back them in to make sure they’re in a position to do what they do best – showcasing Australia’s diverse and important stories.
“Stephanie has been exceptional during her time at the National Museum of Australia, and I know she will bring that same energy and expertise to this role,” Minister Burke said.
“The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House is essential to preserving our rich political history for future generations.
“I’m looking forward to working with Stephanie to do just that.”
