Big steps towards better health this September

Today Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Senator the Hon Carol Brown, joined the Cairns community in the 22nd annual Walk to Work Day.

Walk to Work Day, in partnership with Diabetes Australia, encourages all Australians to walk to work, or build walking into their daily routine.

Diabetes continues to pose a major challenge to Australia’s health system with millions living with the disease every day.

Australians who walk daily tend to be healthier and have a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Given this, there has never been a better reason to implement walking into your workplace routine and inspire your fellow employees to do the same.

Quotes attributable to Federal Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Carol Brown:

“It was my pleasure to take part in such an important initiative like Walk to Work Day.

“Making walking a part of your daily routine may be as simple as waking to and from work, taking a walk at lunch time or opting to take the stairs instead of the lift.”
