Albanese Government getting Road Safety Action Plan back on track

Each and every death on our roads is a tragedy.

Road safety stakeholders raised with the Albanese Government the need for more detailed consultation and engagement on the Action Plan to support the implementation of the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30.

The Albanese Government is getting the Action Plan back on track.

Last week, I held a roundtable of industry experts and road safety advocates in conjunction with the ongoing consultation for the Road Safety Action Plan to be presented to States and Territories for approval in December.

Unlike previous Road Safety Action Plans, implemented under the former Government, the new Action Plan will be designed to have measurable criteria and clear lines of accountability for action divided between States and the Federal Government.

The Albanese Government remains committed to working collaboratively across States, Territories, local governments and communities in working towards Vision Zero; zero deaths and serious injuries by 2050.

Road safety is a shared responsibility between all levels of government, right through to individual road users.
