Cascade Pier construction tender opens

Media Release

17 November 2015

Tenders for the extension and refurbishment of the Cascade Pier on Norfolk Island have now been called.

Minister for Major Projects, Territories and Local Government Paul Fletcher said the project will deliver an upgraded structure that can support the movement of cruise ship passengers and freight.

“The Cascade Pier extension and refurbishment is part of the Australian Government's commitment to Norfolk Island reform,” Mr Fletcher said.

“Importantly, this tender opportunity will give local businesses and tradespeople an opportunity to take part in a significant business opportunity.

“An industry briefing for potential tenderers will be held in the week commencing 23 November with representatives from my department and WorleyParsons.

“Potential tenderers will also have the opportunity to meet the local workforce and businesses as they showcase some of their skills and experiences.

“This will be an excellent avenue to make tenderers aware of the range of skills and suppliers available on island that they may wish to partner with in putting together a competitive tender for this work.

“I am keen to see reforms to the Norfolk Island community continue and I am looking forward to a number of new business opportunities appearing in coming years.”
