  • The Willetton Bowling Club upgrade is now complete
  • The upgrade has seen the installation of a new synthetic bowling green, allowing the bowling club to host matches in a range of conditions
  • The project created almost 50 jobs in total, including two ongoing

The newly upgraded Willetton Bowling Club officially opened today with the $300,000 upgrade set to promote healthy lifestyles in the community.

Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash said the Coalition Government was committed to investing in regional Australia.

“Lawn bowls is a game for all ages and has become hugely popular in recent years with younger people,” Minister Nash said.

“I aim to build the kinds of regional communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and this project will give the Willetton community a great place to socialise.”

Federal Member for Tangney Ben Morton said the upgrade had already paid dividends to the Willetton community.

“The new synthetic grass green and associated lighting will attract new bowlers and night competitions, increasing participation, membership and income to the club,” Mr Morton said.

“Additionally the project created 15 jobs during construction, another 30 indirect jobs, and has resulted in two new jobs for maintenance workers.”

This project was jointly funded by the Coalition Government through the Community Development Grants Programme ($250,000), and Willetton Bowling Club ($50,000) working in partnership to deliver the project.
