  • Kalbar Showgrounds officially open, upgraded with essential electrical infrastructure
  • Upgrade gives the community a great place to meet
  • The Coalition Government invested $250,000

The community of Kalbar today marked the official opening of the Kalbar Showgrounds following a $250,000 upgrade to the venue.

Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash said the upgraded facility was a great addition to the region and would give the community a great place to meet.

“This upgrade will benefit the Kalbar community by attracting visitors from all over the region. It will give residents a great place to host community events and activities, such as sport and other recreational events,” Minister Nash said.

“I aim to build the kinds of communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and providing modern facilities does just that.”

Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz, who joined the Kalbar community today for the official opening and turning on of the showground lights, said he was pleased to see the Coalition Government investing in the region.

“The electrical upgrades to the showgrounds will stop outages and achieve major savings for the community,” Mr Buchholz said.

“The new lighting towers and power to the bar building, toilet block, canteen and other facilities on the grounds will allow it to cater for night-time sport events and activities, as well as allow for an extensive evening programme on the annual Kalbar Show day.

“This upgrade was much needed; we now have power to the caravan and camping sites on the grounds. The increase in tourism will really benefit local Kalbar businesses.”

The $250,000 project was fully funded by the Coalition Government.
