  • Port Macquarie celebrates completion of $7 million Indoor Sports Stadium upgrade.
  • Improved facilities include two new timber floor courts, kitchen and kiosk, and new change room amenities.
  • The stadium caters to both indoor sports and other community based functions.

Port Macquarie officially opened the doors today on the newly revamped indoor sports facility, providing a modern, all-weather stadium with supporting amenities for the community.

Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash said improvements to the stadium will reignite enthusiasm for indoor sports in the region.

“I aim to help build the kinds of communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to and top class sporting facilities are a big part of that,” Minister Nash said.

“I'm a massive sports fan and I look forward to the development of the next generation of athletes from this great community.”

Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker said the new facilities will be a major draw card for regional sporting events and fostering greater community spirit.

“The expanded indoor courts will make it easier to attract new and exciting sporting competitions, as well as allowing the existing local sporting clubs to expand,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“This facility will also provide a safe location for our youth to learn and play sports, bringing the community closer together.”

The project was jointly funded with the Coalition Government contributing $2,800,000 and the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council contributing $4,247,518.
