Mayor of Hume

Upgrades to the Bulla Village Tennis Club will give the Victorian town’s residents more opportunities to get active.

Senator for Victoria James Paterson said the upgraded facilities will play host to an estimated 1,200 users each year.

“Offering social and competitive games, the upgraded club will cater not only to existing players of the sport but will encourage more members of the Bulla community to pick up a racket,” Senator Paterson said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the upgrades, complete with new synthetic surfaces on all four courts, repaired fencing and landscaping, will give the facility a much needed facelift.

“The club is hugely important to the social fabric of Bulla, and, thanks to these upgrades, it will continue to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle for this tight-knit community,” Mr McCormack said.

Mayor of Hume Geoff Porter said the upgraded club has created an improved pathway for local residents to get involved in this popular and inclusive sport.

“The facility is now equipped to accommodate the wide range of tennis formats and programs available, meeting the needs of every community member,” Cr Porter said.

The Liberal and Nationals’ Government invested $120,000 in the project and Hume City Council $633.
