Media Release

DC310/2017

17 October 2017

  • The Australian Government has appointed Ms Karen Gosling to the International Air Services Commission (IASC)
  • The IASC promotes competition and economic efficiency in international aviation
  • Ms Gosling has over ten years of experience as a senior public servant

The Australian Government has today appointed Ms Karen Gosling to the International Air Services Commission (IASC) as a part-time member.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said Ms Gosling would bring extensive public sector aviation experience to the IASC role.

“Ms Gosling has extensive public sector experience, including over 10 years at the senior executive level in the Australian Public Service, where she led several important national transport regulatory reforms,” Mr Chester.

“With her detailed understanding of the transport industry and its legislative and regulatory frameworks, Ms Gosling is suitable for this role.

“The IASC is an independent body that allocates capacity entitlements to Australian airlines for the operation of international airline services.

“It promotes economic efficiency by encouraging competition in the provision of international air services by Australian airlines.

“I am looking forward to Ms Gosling's contribution to the IASC,” Mr Chester said.

Ms Gosling will commence the new role on 1 November 2017.
