Joint release with:

Darryn Lyons

Mayor of Greater Geelong

The brand new Leopold Community Hub officially opened its doors today, offering local residents a one-stop shop for community services, public events and meetings.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said the new $9.25 million facility is an asset the community can be proud of.

“The Australian Government is strongly committed to supporting regional development and building stronger communities,” Mr Truss said.

“Geelong is growing rapidly and this new facility will support the local community well into the future.

“The Hub will serve as a one-stop-shop for families, making access to services much easier, including an integrated children's centre and a multi-purpose room for meetings, activities and community events.”

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons said the Hub will give the community a new focus for community events and the opportunity to share and participate in a variety of activities.

“It's a terrific community facility that has been a long time coming and I'm glad locals now have their own dedicated community space.”

“It's created much needed childcare places in Leopold, which makes life easier for local families.”

The Leopold Community Hub has been a jointly funded project with the Australian Government providing $500,000, the Victorian Government $2.1 million, and the City of Greater Geelong $6.65 million.
