Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash today announced 110 rural, regional and remote projects had been successful under the infrastructure stream of Round One of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

“I aim to help build the kinds of regional communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and providing infrastructure to rural, regional and remote Australia through the Building Better Regions Fund does just that," Minister Nash said.

"The Coalition Government will invest $219.5 million in 110 projects which are worth a total of $467.9 million including investment from applicants and other sources.

"That's 110 dreams which will become reality in rural, regional and remote Australia thanks to the Building Better Regions Fund.

"We're delivering all kinds of projects from a new track at Mt Panorama in Bathurst to a new reef and rainforest research centre in Cairns; affordable accommodation for aged people in Dwellingup in WA to a new permanent base for the LifeFlight helicopter base in Toowoomba.

"I congratulate these successful applicants, who were chosen from a field of 545 applications asking for almost $1 billion in Federal Government funding for projects worth a total of $2 billion.

“After a competitive merit-based selection process, there are always those who were not successful and are naturally disappointed. We have dedicated staff in the Department of Industry to give tailored feedback to each unsuccessful applicant to help improve those applications for next time. They can be contacted on"

Minister Nash said she expected to open another round of BBRF before the end of the year.
