Federal Member for Lyne

  • New rooftop viewing area one of several improvements at Taree Motorcycle Club
  • Upgrades include a new canteen, score tower, and a rooftop spectator area
  • The Coalition Government invested $70,000 towards the $112,000 project

A new rooftop area which can hold 100 spectators is among the great new improvements to Taree Motorcycle Club.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said the upgrades, which also include new catering facilities and digital score tower, were put to good use during the Australian Junior Motorcycle Championships held last weekend.

“At almost 60 years old, the Taree Motorcycle Club is a regional institution,” Dr Gillespie said.

“These new upgrades will greatly increase the number of spectators the Club can hold, and promote Taree as a centre of motorcycling.

“These upgrades were necessary to cater for the club's growth, which holds events such as the prestigious Troy Bayliss Classic.”

Minister Nash said the Coalition was proud to invest in regional sporting facilities.

“I aim to build the kind of communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and great sporting facilities are a big part of that,” Minister Nash said.

The Federal Coalition Government invested $70,000 in the project, with the Taree Motorcycle Club providing the remaining $42,000.
