  • $500,000 refurbishment of Jamberoo pool completed
  • The Australian Government invested $500,000 in the project.

The refurbishment of the public pool in Jamberoo, New South Wales, will enable more local residents to escape the heat this summer.

Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the upgrade provides higher quality amenities for the public, including two changing areas complete with showers and toilets.

"In addition to much needed repair to the pipe works and pool deck, a new mobility-assist chair and ramp will help the elderly and people with disabilities to get into and out of the pool," Dr McVeigh said.

"The refurbishment also provided employment opportunities in the region, the project created six jobs during construction and another two ongoing jobs for lifeguards and maintenance workers."

Federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis said the pool is a major source of entertainment, relaxation and exercise for members of the growing Jamberoo community to enjoy.

"During the final planning, discussion held included the concept design to have the amenities block accessible to the sports ground as well as the pool area," she said.

"To maximise the investment, the change was made and now the amenities block are a year round facility for the community.

"With a new shade structure and several picnic tables installed, the upgraded facility now provides everyone, including families, with a very welcome chance to enjoy a day by the pool," Mrs Sudmalis said.

The Coalition Government fully funded the $500,000 project.
