- Australian Government invested $200,000 in the project
Residents of Wycheproof, Victoria, today celebrated the official opening of the town's upgraded pool precinct with a splash.
Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the $200,000 contribution to the project was part of the Coalition Government's focus on helping create jobs and growing regional communities.
“The pool upgrades provided employment opportunities in the region, creating three jobs during construction and additional ongoing jobs including facilities manager, kiosk operator and pool attendants,” Dr McVeigh said.
Federal Member for Mallee Andrew Broad said the project provided a high quality facility for local residents to enjoy for years to come.
“Swimming pools not only provide much needed relief throughout the summer months, they provide local families with fun, a great form of exercise and facilities for the community to socialise,” Mr Broad said.
“The upgrades include solar heating to lower running costs, new change rooms and a new kiosk.”
Mayor of Buloke Shire Council David Pollard said the upgrade would benefit the residents of Wycheproof and the surrounding district.
“Our swimming pools are available for free to our communities and are important for social inclusion and a fun recreational facility,” Cr Pollard said.
This project was jointly funded with the Turnbull Coalition Government contributing $200,000, the Victorian Government $200,000 and the Buloke Shire Council $200,000.
