Bulldogs and their supporters gathered today at the Plympton Bulldogs junior soccer meet and greet to celebrate the official opening of the new facilities at the Plympton Sporting and Recreation Club.

Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said the Australian Government provided $60,000 towards the upgrade.

“Funding for the project was provided under the Community Development Grants Programme which is providing almost $350 million to community projects across Australia,” Mr McCormack said.

“The Australian Government is committed to funding community projects such as this one which will have a longer term positive impact on the social and economic infrastructure of communities.

“The Australian Government would like to acknowledge the financial support of $45,000 provided by the Plympton Sporting and Recreation Club.”

Federal Member for Hindmarsh Matt Williams joined the community today for the opening of the new facilities which coincided with the annual junior soccer meet and greet.

“It was great to meet so many enthusiastic parents and kids today and I can see that the upgrade of the facilities will provide benefits to the sporting community for years to come,” Mr Williams said.

“Works included the repositioning and fit-out of the new kitchen and bar facilities and the installation of folding room dividers to provide multi-function club rooms for functions and events.

“The facilities are used by a variety of community members and sporting teams including Australian football, Soccer and Cricket from a range of ages and competition levels.”

The Community Development Grants Programme is administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
