The Australian Government continues to invest in community infrastructure with the opening of the Riverside Soccer Club Playing Fields and Clubhouse Facilities upgrade.

Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Peter Hendy, said the upgrade refurbished the playing surface, installed new lighting, landscaped the grounds and built new spectator seating for the Club.

“The project is an extension of the Riverside Oval’s $700,000 refurbishment, also funded by the Australian Government, that has included an additional storey on the sporting pavilion, to include new club rooms for meetings, training and community events,” Dr Hendy said.

“Club members will no longer have to travel for training and coaching clinic.

“The upgrade will increase the club’s capacity for additional users, and allow for the facilities to be hired out to the public, which will boost the local economy.

“This project also boosted local jobs with 20 jobs created during the construction phase,” Dr Hendy said.

Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Jamie Briggs said the funding was another example of the Australian Government’s commitment to building productive infrastructure for communities across Australia.

“The Australian Government is delivering $313.9 million toward community projects like this across Australia through our Community Development Grants Program.”

The $170,000 Upgrade of the Riverside Soccer Club Playing Fields and Clubhouse Facilities project was fully funded by the Australian Government.
