Joint release with:

Peter Hendy

Federal Member for Eden-Monaro

The Australian Government is delivering on its election commitments to the electorate of Eden-Monaro through the Community Development Grants Programme.

Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Jamie Briggs and Federal Member for Eden-Monaro Peter Hendy today announced that the Australian Government will deliver $500,000 to Queanbeyan City Council for the Upgrade of Seiffert Oval and Stadium project.

Dr Hendy said this funding will deliver a significant boost to the local economy and the community by revitalising the facilities at the Seiffert Oval.

“This project will improve the facilities at the Seiffert Oval, including upgrading the grandstand and canteen facilities, as well as a field surface upgrade,” Dr Hendy said.

“The upgrade will increase capacity at the sports ground to cater for more community groups and casual users.

“It will be a great boost to the local community, providing more opportunities to participate and attend sporting, recreational and social events.”

Mr Briggs said the funding was another example of the Australian Government's commitment to building productive infrastructure for communities across Australia.

“We are getting on with the job of delivering $314.2 million towards almost 300 community projects across Australia.”

The programme is administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development which undertakes a value with relevant money assessment of each project against the programme guidelines to ensure the efficient, effective, ethical, and economical use with relevant money.

Unlike the previous Labor Government, the Coalition delivers on its election commitments.
