  • Final section of road connecting Mintaro and Manoora now sealed
  • The upgrade will support close ties between the two towns
  • Works funded by three Australian Government Roads to Recovery grants

After several years in the pipeline, the sealing of the final section of the road between Mintaro and Manoora in the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council district has been completed.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said the Australian Government's Roads to Recovery Programme had funded the upgrade of Min Man Road.

“Roads to Recovery supports vital maintenance of the local road infrastructure right around Australia, improving safety and helping foster the economic and social well-being of communities,” Mr Chester said.

“This project began in 2010 from Halls Road and has been progressed in sections thanks to three grants provided under the programme.”

Clare and Gilbert Valleys Mayor Allan Aughey OAM said Council was very pleased to see the final section of Min Man Road completed before the end of 2016.

“This is an important artery for the people of the district, connecting the Horrocks and Barrier Highways,” Mayor Aughey said.

“This route links Mintaro and Manoora, which have been closely connected for many years since amalgamation of their football and netball clubs, and the road improvement has been a highly desired outcome.

“Its completion represents the culmination of a great deal of advocacy from both communities and it has been pleasing to be able to finally complete the connection and add value to our rural road infrastructure.”

The total budget of the final section of the project, which runs 150 metres east of Wirrilla Road for about 1.5 kilometres, was $450,000.
